Benjamin Standfield
Current Summary:
Lead Video Engineer for Corporate Events, Broadcasts and Concerts ranging from small elite settings to arenas to complex audience “experiences”. These custom high-level events have included major product reveals, software and hardware demos, general sessions, concerts and other experiences. I have worked in most major venues in the United States and some abroad with a clear understanding of the policies, challenges and hurdles of each property. Positions filled range from EIC, vMix, Spyder X-20, Spyder X-80, E2 and the Grass Valley UHD Maverik. With a solid broadcast base in switching and 17 years of hi-rez engineering and switching, there is no problem too small, too large or that cannot be overcome.
Career Timeline:
1999 through 2006
WBNS 10TV – Broadcast Operations
Operated a AMS Neve Audio Console for live television broadcasts.
Operated both Grass Valley 3003 3ME and Snell & Wilcox 4ME Kahuna for live and taped television shows and broadcasts.
2006 through August 2019
LMG, Inc. – Video Show Technician
Hired by LMG for my expertise in the Snell & Wilcox Kahuna. In 2006 and for several years afterwards, I used the 4ME Kahuna for screen control and switching IMAG to multiple screens. I was also charged with using the Kahuna DVE for making savvy transitions to multiple destinations. My directing skills grew as I was put into many different models of shows. Since then, to date, I went from 1080i to UHD to screen with the SAM 9600 frame and the Maverik console which is loosely based on the original Kahuna but with a lot more firepower.
Early on in LMG I made sure to learn all legacy systems including Folsom 1604 and Diventix as well as the Encore for shows with up to 14 VPs linked together with multiple router control and Spyder X-20 with up to 3 frames linked together with multiple router control.
I also made sure to spread my wings further by taking on jobs of EIC and Shader for any sized show.
Well versed in the Spyder X-80 in which I have run shows with two of them stacked together and E2 with up to three frames linked together.
September 2019 through present
Standfield Video Services, LLC – Owner
While continuing to maintain a good working relationship with my previous employer, I branched out to other production and AV companies for new opportunities. These opportunities continued my skillset enhancements and broadened my abilities for more types of shows which include esports. Post COVID-19, I quickly pivoted to a learning mode and to become more flexible in my skillset. I am currently on a learning path to be a certified network associate as well as operate media servers. Meanwhile, picking up work remotely and on site for solutions that include vMix.
